Montreal Impact Name New Coach.

The Montreal Impact have named Marco Schallibaum their new head coach

You probably missed this headline, in fact I had to dig for it, but yes the Montreal Impact have named their new head coach for next season.  This is probably a good thing for them as the MLS Combine kicks off later this week.  (Somebody might wanna wake up the Red Bulls.)

Today the Canadian franchise named Marco Schallibaum as the man to take the helm next season.  Who is he, you ask?  Well, apparently he's been a big deal in the Swiss Super League, managing FC Basel, FC Sion, and BSC Young Boys.  He's also worked as a FIFA coaching instructor in Qatar, South Korea, and Mongolia....of all places.

Seemingly more importantly to L'Impact, Schallibaum speaks four languages.  Among those languages is Italian, which will obviously help as Montreal further attempts to become the first Italian Serie A side based outside of Italy.  Either that or they just like washed up Euros.

If you sense my skepticism and sarcasm, sorry.  Honestly I thought Jesse Marsch did a pretty decent job last year, but rumors suggest that part of his issue was not being on the same page as the club's almighty Italian contingent.  In the end, I'm also somewhat skeptical of "Euro" coaches ultimately finding a lot of success in MLS, Exhibit A: Aron Winter.  Exhibit B: Hans Backe.

At any rate, Montreal seems to have a pretty good fanbase going up there, I'd hate to see them become another TFC, but time will tell.
