Well, turns out that scoring 13 goals isn't more important than not being a douche bag on the pitch. Excuse my bluntness.
The Crew let DP Andres Mendoza go on Tuesday, as well as MLS All Time leading scorer Jeff Cunningham. Cunningham both tied and broke the career record for most goals this year, but didn't play a ton of minutes.
Mendoza is a different story. He spent most of his first full season making the team, the coaches, and the supporters mad. His attitude on the pitch always seemed like he couldn't care less. He also consistently put himself ahead of his teammates. He denied Cunningham a PK against RSL which would have tied the record, Luckily he got it anyway.
The Crew also jettisoned 5 more players, while making new offers to Robbie Rogers and Emmanuel Ekpo.
It will be interesting to see if anyone else in MLS gives Mendoza a shot.
