Sporting's Collin Out 1-2 Weeks With All Star Injury

Sporting KC's Aurélien Collin suffered an injury in the All Star Game (MLS)

Last year Real Salt Lake had to suffer through a post All Star match injury to a major player when Jamison Olave went down hurt against Manchester United.  This year it looks like Sporting Kansas City will have to shoulder that particular burden.  Hopefully for them, it won't be a long term problem.

Center back Aurélien Collin suffered an injury in last night's All Star match against Chelsea FC.  Collin collided with Chelsea's Michael Essien late in the first half and suffered two facial fractures.  He was replaced in the 36th minute bu Philadelphia's Carlos Valdes.  Sporting is saying that Collin will be out 1-2 weeks.  Their next game is this Saturday night when they host the Columbus Crew.

The Vancouver Whitecaps also have reason to fume over this as their captain Jay DeMerit ended up playing all 90 minutes for the All Stars after the Collin injury.  DeMerit and the 'Caps have a game on Friday against Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium.  To make matters worse, DeMerit's flight out of Philadelphia was cancelled due to weather and he's been stuck there an extra day.
