United's Vidic Out Eight Weeks
Just as one Manchester United star is set to return to the pitch, another important player has suffered an injury setback. Striker Wayne Rooney is due to make his return to the line up tomorrow in League Cup action, but defender and team captain Nemanja Vidic has now been ruled out for eight weeks.
The 31 year old Serbian international sat out United's match this last weekend after complaining about tightness in his right knee. It's the same knee he injured last year in Champion's League competition that caused him to miss the final 5 months of the season. United have said that medical evaluation after Vidic complained about the knee revealed more issues, and he has now undergone surgery. He'll miss at least 3 Champions League games and 7 Barclay's Premier League games if this time line holds.
The injury comes at a bad time for United as defender Phil Jones is also out for a similar amount of time with a similar injury. Also, Chris Smalling has yet to return from injury and Jonny Evans picked up an injury last weekend against Liverpool. Things could be interesting in the next few weeks for the Red Devils.
