Fort Lee Police mugshot of Wilman Conde (Fort Lee Patch)
Two observations: One, I guess footballers get in trouble in other places besides Europe. Two: it never gets any easier for the New York Red Bulls. Oft-injured center back Wilman Conde was arrested at his apartment Saturday morning and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer. Oops.
Apparently Fort Lee police arrived at his apartment early Saturday morning to investigate a noise complaint. According to the reports, they found Conde and the co-owner of the apartment to be ''very intoxicated and belligerent." When one of the officers questioned the identity of a female in the apartment, Conde reportedly got in the officers way and "pushed him repeatedly." This action resulted in his arrest. Putting your hands on a police officer tends to lead to that. He was later released without bail pending a hearing later this month.
The Red Bulls had this to say in a statement: ''We are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering information. We have no further comment at this time.''
New York took a chance on Conde by signing the somewhat fragile defender, who has previously played for the Chicago Fire as well as Mexican club Atlas. He has played well when he's actually played, but he's only seen action in two of New York's matches so far this season.
The co-owner of the apartment was given a summons for excessive noise.
