Today Everton took a good step toward improving their team by signing Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson. While terms were not disclosed, rumor has it that the fee was 1 million pounds and the contract will run for four and a half years.
Gibson was keen to move on from Old Trafford after Paul Scholes came back to the club from retirement. He's been frustrated at his lack of playing time, and didn't see an opportunity arising with the United legend back in the fold.
Gibson has said that he hopes he can help the Toffees improve and praised manager David Moyes and his hard working side. He also revealed that none other than former Everton boy Wayne Rooney helped him along in his choice. Tim Cahill and Phil Neville were also cited as being influential in the move.
Darron is a product of the United youth system and has scored 10 goals in 60 games for the Red Devils. Gibson is also and Irish international, though he was born in Northern Ireland, and has scored once in 17 caps.
