World Football Challenge: New England Revolution vs. Manchester United

Why am I blogging about this? Why did I watch this crapfest instead of Copa America? I mean hell, Brazil was playing.

Anyway, we ditched Super Liga this year in the name of this World Football Challenge thing, where a very few MLS fans get to shell out a bunch of money to watch mainly B-sides from major European clubs come beat up on MLS. In other words, to make money for the bigger markets.

Tonight's game was a perfect case in point. The Revs hosted ManU and got their asses kicked.

Predictable really.

The first half sucked. Reis made a nice save on Berbatov and Rooney had a nice header. No score though.

All the subs came in for the second half and the Red Devils lit up a star struck sub keeper for Revs. Owen scored, Macheda scored twice, and JS Park rounded out the scoring for United.

The Revs did pull one back off a free kick awarded for another Phantom Foul, leaving Rio Ferdinand justifiably aghast at the idiotic ref. Final score, 1-4, and I should have watched the Copa.
