Just a couple thoughts on Last night's Timbers vs. Union matchup.
Snooze fest.
We should have known we were in trouble when the thing that was getting top billing in the lead up to the match was Portland's crowd. I'm not dissing Portland's crowd, but they didn't have a ton to cheer about. Timber Joey finally got to fire up his saw, but only once, and they had to wake him up to do it.
The Union tried to "park the bus" in front of the goal and then hope for a chance on a counter the other way. It didn't work. Perkins was forced into a couple of saves, but this one was a yawner by far.
A couple of words about Fox Soccer's "Soccer Night in America." The new graphics were snazzy and all that jazz, but there wasn't a lot different. Maybe it was because the game was kind of meh, but it just didn't seem to be all that different. Of course, I liked FSC's MLS coverage anyway.
